Serving his eighth term in the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Louie Gohmert was first sworn in January 4, 2005. He proudly represents the First District of Texas which encompasses over 12 counties stretching nearly 120 miles down the state’s eastern border.
Louie received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and later graduated from Baylor School of Law. He is also a veteran having served his country as Captain in the U.S. Army.
A favorite among Tea Party groups, Louie speaks often as a fellow Tea Party advocate across Texas and the United States. He boldly stands on America’s founding principles and is constantly coming up with big, innovative ideas solidly based on Constitutional fundamentals.
Candidate for State Senate, District 1
Senator Bryan Hughes served his first term in the Texas Senate during the 85th Legislature, representing the 16 counties of Senate District One in Northeast Texas. Born and raised in East Texas, Bryan attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler, receiving his BBA in Economics in 1992, becoming the first member of his family to receive a Bachelor's degree. He has received numerous awards for his work in the Legislature, including the Taxpayer Champion Award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, the Horizon Award from Texas Right to Life, and “Defender of the American Dream” from Americans for Prosperity. Mothers Against Drunk Driving honored Senator Hughes as 2017 Legislator of the Year. As a small businessman, he knows about hard work and the value of a dollar. Bryan is a leader in his church, a Red Cross disaster relief volunteer, and active in civic and community organizations.

Matt Schaefer is a Christian, a husband, and a father. He is married to Jasilyn, who directs the Apache Belles of Tyler Junior College. He is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and in 2010 he served in Afghanistan near the Iranian border with a provincial reconstruction team. He was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives, District 6 in November of 2012 after successfully challenging incumbent Rep. Leo Berman in the Republican primary. Matt is a sixth generation Texan. Matt and Jasilyn are active members of Green Acres Baptist Church. His work ethic, family life, and faith in God enable him to be a strong conservative leader for East Texas.
